Salut,

Bonne chance

How To Utilize Tibetan Prayer Beads. What Are Malas
Mala is Sanskrit for the original Sanskrit names of prayer beads that are used to count mantras. The ubiquitous mala is widely used in Tibetan Buddhist communities around the globe, either wrapped around the wrists or hanging from the fingers. They are typically coupled with the humming of mantras, such as Om mani padme tuttare, ture soha or mun muni maha-muniye soha. They are also known as trengwa to Tibetans. You can use your rosary for counting the number of prayers. Even when you're not counting, the repeated mantra beads-by-bead in the mala can help to relax and keep the mind focused. The string with 108 beads is by far the most well-known type of mala. It is made from semi-precious stones or precious stones or wood, seeds, or even bone. After you've finished 100 mantra recitations, every time you move around the mala and say an appropriate mantra for each one of its beads, you are considered to be complete. To cover any errors or miscounts, an additional 8 beads are utilized as "spare". The head beads are bigger than the others and is commonly referred to as"guru" beads. However, it's vital to the circuit's start point and not included in the total of 108 beads. Some Malas contain precious stones that are added at various intervals. For example the turquoise, coral or. These additional stones can be added at intervals you can count like following 27 beads. This lets you know that you are just 1/4 of the circuit. These counter beads are extra meaning that your total count would be 111 rather than 108. For prostrations, there is another mala size that can be worn on the wrist. It is made up of 27 beads. The smaller size is wrapped around the hand and repeated four times. It is possible to create different configurations (e.g. 21 or 22). If you are able use your mala to count it, then you are good to go.

Types of Malas
There are many kinds and designs of malas. They vary from bone and ivory to lapis lazuli, sandalwood and crystal. While we've read numerous theories about which kind of mala is suitable for this or another type of prayer, we do not believe that it's important as much what kind of mala you use. We believe that Tibetans generally do not make huge distinctions in the types and use of malas. Monks, nuns, and others will typically use very basic and basic malas like wooden malas. You can make use of any mala that you want. It is best to be concentrated on the practice of spirituality and the mantras you recite rather than the appearance of the mala or how much it costs. Check out the most popular Tibetan Bracelet for examples.

How Do You Hold And Count Using Your Malas
We would like to say, as Tibetan culture is well-known as, there aren't specific rules regarding malas, or the way of counting your mantras. Each person does things differently. There are a variety of ways to do things however, these don't matter in the same way as your intentions and attitude of prayer. If you're praying in your center and using the mala, then you are doing the right job! While the majority of sources advise you to place your mala in your left hand, certain Tibetans use them in their right. If you're holding a prayer rod with one hand, and you are holding the mala and your mala on the other hand, it's easier to carry the mala in your left hand, while holding the prayer rod is on the right. When using your mala, begin by placing the first bead, which is next to the "guru" bead. The bead can be held between your thumb and index finger, and repeat your mantra loudly or slowly. After that, move to the next bead using a an upward movement of the thumb. repeating the mantra and repeat. Then you will have completed 100 mantras, without having to count them all. The majority of Tibetans do not forget their guru, but rather reverse direction by changing their malas to begin a new one which is 100, and then going back to where they started from. We don't know, honestly, why this happens, and yet we do this out of habit, rather than due to any reason.

Caring for your Mala
Your mala will grow more spiritually significant when you make use of it to chant mantras, carry it to sessions, and get it blessed possibly by your spiritual guru. Although it's not holy by itself, we still take it seriously. That means that you should not throw it, place it on the ground or add mundane objects to it. Tibetans put their malas around their necks and wrists when they are not in use. It is not recommended to wear them as necklaces. It can be hung on the wall or in an area that is high enough to see the altar even if you don't really need it. We keep it on an encasement under the altar. It's entirely your responsibility to treat it with love and affection with a practical and non-extremist mindset.
